It does bother me that they haven't captured anyone and the story about UCI testers being lenient is worrisome.
But at the same time we can see that the climbers in general have slowed down a lot(to a bit below Carlos Sastre's level) and the so dominating Mark Cavansish has a max output of "only" 1600watt plus Nicki with his 300-350watt looks incredibly strong.
So if the peloton still is doped it's at least less doped and the clean riders should on paper have a better chance at making a difference.
Oh and I'm happy that the AFLD will do 8 years retro testing on the collected samples, I bet that has many of the riders scared from doping during this Tour.

When you talk about the watt of Cavendish, don't forget that he isn't that tall and therefore less heavy, so his watt/kg level is still high. But I do agree with you that the Tour is probably cleaner.

The climbers have slowed down except Contador who just did the quickest ascend EVER... It is just humiliating to watch this guy be allowed to ride... it is humiliating for the anti doping agencies who are being cheated time and time again.
In order to really understand me you must think |

In 2007 was Andy second after Di Luca -> doping This year Andy was second after Rebbelin -> doping
Why he doesn't get the victories?

Hope this is the end to Di Luca, he if anybody is making a bad name of this sport. I just hope they don't mess precedures tests or other things this time, so we don't have to see him again due to some errores in the case and not due to him beeing inocent.

Almost sounds like Andy is on the needle too then, but for the time being I chose to believe he isn't.

For sure he will not be the last one to get caught. In spite of the success of the biological passport, we shouldnt build up an illusion, that it has become impossible to dope. Those riders who are still tracked in the old doping culture, will still try to cheat! The good thing is, that the tests are keep getting better and better, and that it nowadays has become so difficult to dope, that most of them will get caught sooner or later. The fact that ASO has decided to start making retroactive test for 8 years on those Tour samples being stored from 2008 and 2009, will work both as a way of cleaning up the peleton, and have a deterrent effect on the cheaters.
If/When the B-sample of Mikel Astarlaza confirm his positive test for recombinant EPO, all his result after June 26 are likely to get nullified. So his win of stage 16 in the Tour, will instead go to Sandy Casar (Francaise Des Jeux).
To continue the discussion of doping in the Tour and Astarloza, I have copied my post above into this new topic in the Tour folder: http://forum.team-saxobank.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8377
