The Schumacher case has been delayed again, the decision is now scheduled for january 2010.

Meanwhile a settlement has been reached in court between Schumacher and his ex-boss Hans-Michael Holczer. They both agreed to have Schumachers contract terminated by Oct 15, 2008. This means Holczers has to pay Schumacher half a month's salary of 25.000 and other open payment of the same amount.

why no lifetime-ban in case of a repeater (giro 2007, but without real penalty)?

Tom Zirbel, who rode himself to a 4th place at the ITT World Championships in Mendrisio and scored a contract with the Garmin-Transitions team for the 2010 season, has been tested positive for a substance called DEHA in a test performed in late August. His contract with the American Pro Tour team has now been cancelled.

Tom Zirbel is now awaiting the result of the B-sample, which was performed three weeks ago, and risks a two-year ban if the outcome is similar to the A-sample.

I know what DHEA is, but what is DEHA anyway?

A small spelling mistake by Feltet.dk, that accidently was repeated by Ajax.
Zirbel indeed tested positive for the well known testosterone-like substance, called DHEA.

Niklas Axelsson, who rode for the Polish-Italian Team Corratec this season, has been tested positive for EPO for the second time in his career (the first time was back in 2001). The positive A-sample was performed in September, 2009, and Axelsson now awaits the outcome of the B-sample.

Axelsson was 6th overal in the giro -99, and after they found him taking doping -01 he was expelled for4 years but was back after 2 and 8 mnths. Then he got testicular cancer (...) and now doped again...

He's riding for a geman-polish team (i think): Corratec, and was doing (sadly enough) rather ok in smaller races -09.

I read in the swe newspaper that Larsson wanted life if it was true. I agree.

The story of Axelsson is indeed very sad. Whenever a rider is caught of a 2nd time doping violation with a doping substance not listed as a "specified substance", then the WADA and UCI rules are actualy very clear. The rider will as standard get a life-time suspension, but always have the option for a reduction to "only" 8 years, in case he deliver a full collaboration (leading to other persons implicated in doping affairs getting caught). Time will show if Axelsson decides to protect the omertha, or reveal his doping source.

Whatever he decides, his career is over, if the B-sample is also positive. Hopefully this will be a motivation for him to break the omerta and tell the investigators everything he knows.

Francaise des Jeux-rider Aurélien Duval (21-year-old Frenchman) has been fired after a positive doping test performed back in October, 2009, during the Circuit Franco-Belge. The B-sample confirmed that he had taken a substance called norfenfluramine, a product to suppress your appetite and with no performance enhancing effect.

The young rider now faces a two-year suspension.

<<Axelsson was 6th overal in the giro -99, and after they found him taking doping -01 he was expelled for4 years but was back after 2 and 8 mnths. Then he got testicular cancer >>

There are regular always anecdotal linkings of drugs and testicular cancer and other cancers mostly from various steroids eg Lyle Alzado personally linked his steroid use to his cancer, oral turinabol has been linked in one case http://www.bodybuildingarea.com/html/turinabol.shtml though I cannot find a proper reference, Nolvadex Tamoxifen Citrate has been linked to testicular cancer in rats but again no proper reference. I also read a post from a Jesus Nieto a Mexican who claimed to have done a season in Italy during 91 & been offered drugs including human growth hormone & primobolin and the drug notes citing testicular cancer as possible side effects. All this is anecdotal but the dosage levels of dope users are frequently much higher than any prescription. So anything will likely come from anecdotal evidence first.

So apart from Armstrong and Axelsson are there any other examples of drug users and cancer.

On or off topic, for sure it's hilarious. Are those people totally out of their minds?

DiLuca gets two years for his positive in last years Giro. At 33 years old lets hope this ends his carear.

That will move Sastre up onto 3rd place for 2009, giving him a poduim finish at each GT.
