| Well it just came out that Saxobank has fired Kim Andersen. Kim Andersen is to start up a new Pro Tour team based in Luxembourg, so it is a pretty safe bet that the Schlecks are moving to this team!. Wow... just wow. |

Okay guys, I know this sounds optimistic, but Fränk seems to be quite honoured og overwhelmed by how Bjarne handled his crash and supported Fränk. Could this be the opportunity which we all hope for; a new reason for the Schlecks to stay, given the way Riis dealt with the situation? (if a sponsor shows up any time soon) I'm definitely crossing my fingers!

I think that might be to optimistically - but if Frank goes on to contend the Vuelta etc, it could mean that they part as friends - something thats quite important for Riis (and his teams) position in the peloton in the future

If the new LUX-team really becomes reality, it's certain for me that this won't happen without the Schleck bros. |

and again, not to beat a broken record here, but without a new sponsor, we won't be keeping anybody!

Now that we managed to get a sponsor, now we could have a fighting chance to sign Contador. Give him the schleck brothers pay check (both of them) and we have a TDF Winner the next many years to come !
It would be a fantastic signing for the team, and i really thing it could attract many more sponsors to the team !

If Specialized is the unknown main sponsor, this scenario is realistic. If Specialized would become main sponsor, this is a good reason to keep it a secret for now, since they have other commitments in the peloton. |

Contador would be an interesting signing, but highly unlikely. He just told Cyclingnews yesterday he's close to resigning with Astana:
The rest day at the Tour de France is also a business day. Contador's brother and agent Fran was busy finalising details about a contract renewal with the Kazakh owners of the Astana team. "It's very likely that I'll stay here," Contador said. "This team gives me a lot of tranquillity. I have good riders around me. They are also my friends."

I don't want Contador - like the TV2 commentators I want Riis to build something up again, on riders he create (like Schlecks, Sastre)

Eventhough I like Contador I think it would be more fun, and in the spirit of the team, to build new stars from scrath. I think we only a couple of times tried to buy a winning type, like Bartoli and Jaja. With jaja it was another time, when trying to establish a worldclass team, we have that now, so I think Riis will spot a new talent or upcomming guy, I don't see him signing Contador...

If the brothers leave the team, I surely hope, that Riis and the staff will continue working with new talents, - creating the stars of the future. It´s been a trademark the last couple of years, - and with the many promissing danish talents, I think the cycling team under Riis´ leadership could reach new peaks. For the good of the team, they might need to look for an experienced captain, if the Schlecks decide to leave. As the danish commentators pointed out during the coverage of today´s stage of TdF, Riis has a record of reviving fallen stars, - I just hope, he will stay clear of the riders, who have been banned from competition in order to keep a profile as a doping-fighting team intact. Ps. What a stage today, - one of the best ever! |

Why wait for a new talent to come up??
The Best Rider in the world atm is free next year. Give him the two brothers pay check combined and build a new team up around him.
Its clear to all that he´s in his own class again this year, Andy cant take him in the mountains and certainly not either in the TT´s.
And think about the Commercial opportunities Riss most certainly will get if he managed to sign with Contador, it could lift the team to a much higher economic level and of course also our competitive level.
It would be very stupid of Riis, if he didnt even try to make a deal with him, and thats one thing Riis Isnt.
I actually think he (Riis) has been in negotiations with Contador for a while in the hiding. There is probably a reason why his negotiations with Astana has dragged out for longer than their surroundings probably had expected!

Contador earns a lot more than the two brothers earn together with Riis, so he'll have to pay extra. Contador is too expensive and I think it's better to pick a rider who isn't the best yet but surely has the potential to be at the top in a couple of years. It would be great to keep Fuglsang, but I'm sure that Riis has some other guys in mind if he leaves.
