It would be stupid to sign with an obvious doper who will eventually be caught. This rider simply is not clean and is only walking free due to a corrupt cycling federation in his home country.

Besides the huge paycheck Riis will need to give Contador, it will also take a lot of money to build a team around him. I don't see Contador riding in a team without any Spaniards.. |

I'm torn in my mind, I don't really know what i think of the situation. I think it seemed weird that he went by Andy when he had technical problems, but he didn't go full speed when (it seemed he knew of the size of the problem) He could easily have gained a minute or more in addition to the 39 sek he took.
Alberto also seems guilt torn, I just saw a video post on youtube where he appologieses. Sometimes you win sometimes you loose, it would be pretty boring if a stage was canceled everytime somebody had a problem.
IF we sign Contador i think it is a good signing, however I would think that Bjarne would build a new star from "scratch". But I would welcome Contador to the team.

I'm reading L'Equipe at the moment, you can imagine i'm very surprised. It's only a rumour though and in the first part of the article they write that Astana remains the more probable solution for Contador in 2011. Then they speak of the thesis you wrote indeed. |

Others details in the article.
Astana want an answer from A. Contador before the end of the Tour, but it's very unlikely to happen because Fran Contador (brother and agent of Alberto) is currently in talks with several teams.
Moreover Astana don't want to increase Contador's salary : "5 millions euros a year is already enormous" says Samruk Kazina (sponsor of Astana). But Contador would like more money and Specialized could offer him what he wants. |

Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet seems very sure Specialized and Contador is moving to Riis, along with some of his best helpers:

Indications are:
Specialized is apparently on the way to the Tour
Both teams has a press conference in the same hotel at 2.30pm today (not sure why that is an indication)
Riis refused to criticize Contador, but instead criticized Andy after the chain incident
I'm not sure what to believe - when so many media are reporting the same story, there's usually something to it, but this one is just so hard to believe.
I guess we'll see, presumably in September, but it will be interesting for sure. I doubt they will announce anything today
