I'm not sad the Schlecks leave. Sure, they are great, and sure, they'll be missed. But cycling works this way, and Riis' has a history of finding another GC-rider.
The team - the way it's built - aren't build around a tour winner. I mean, look at Astana. How many classic-riders do you see? None. It's all about Contador. At Saxo you have Fabian Cancellara, the Schlecks as well as hot prospects such as Matti and Jakob. So the chances that someone might leave is there and Bjarne knows this.
I think Fabian is the most valuable rider for the team, and Riis doesn't want to lose him. He doesn't want to lose the Schlecks as well, but they can earn more at other teams.
That's how Bjarne Riis has built his team and that's how it'll always be :) |

Yes, the official news is that we have Sungard and one other yet to be disclosed sponsor, and that Riis said the team will continue at the same level
No news on the Schlecks, but they will most likely leave

Sungard is official as a co-sponsor on a two year deal - 2011 and 2012. Riis said at the press-conference that another sponsor had signed, but due to marked-strategy they didn't want to make it official before the end of the tour. My feeling is that it is GN Netcom is the other sponsor. But they are waiting because they are launching the brand "Jabra" http://www.jabra.dk/DK-DK/Pages/default.aspx?source=ipdetect . They want it to be a worldwide product.
Riis also said that the team is secured at the same financial level as they have right now, but he is still searching for sponsors because he is very ambitious with the team and want to do even more. |

Wow !!, I'm really pleased with this news and Andy couldn't have said it better about Riis and the sponsor situation. The "Franchise" of Riis Cycling really is the best in the sport alongside the likes of Colombia and the thought of it dissapearing from the pro-tour would have been catastrophic !!.
If Andy & Frank leave so be it, but I think Bjarne has proved time and again that he has the ability to produce the riders year in year out and develop great talent, I've no fear for the teams future now.
Was there any indication of how long the deal is for with Sunguard? Just read wizarden's post

Am I the only one on here who thinks this could be very interesting??
for the last couple of seasons we havent had that boig riders coming in before the start of the new season. This might can bring us some new interesting names instead of the same riders who has been on the team for a lot of years.

Well, believing rumours, Bjarne was negotiating untill noon or even later, so he might not have had anything to tell them before :)

Sungard says they don't care that the Schlecks are leaving, what they are payi9ng for is Riis leadership abilities, and his ability to create winners. They also suggest that they after these two years might step up and be alone sponsors, as its natural for them to do things step by step, and that co-sponsor was a natural next step for them

| Well Cancellara is on contract for next year, so he isn't going anywere. I would be surprised if the Schlecks stay. Fuglsang is an option and I think Breschel is staying. He said he wanted to stay earlier. |
