how about some of our other workhorses (namely Stuey and Jens)? Stuey had said earlier he'd be willing to go to the Schlecks....is he more loyal to them or to Riis?
For me, I hope the Lux team does well....because it will be testament to the skill and intelligence of Riis--he trained them and taught them a lot, and now they want to go and try it on their own. It's like me as a teacher--when I teach a student and they do well with me, it makes me feel good. When they then do well in other classes that use the skills used in my class, I shows I was a good teacher just as much as they're good students.
In terms of the Norwegian angle----doubt Thor and Fabi would be a good mesh like someone else said....but Boasson Hagen? How long's his contract? He'd be a good asset to the team. And Kurt Asle does NOT seem happy (what with not being selected for their Tour team)....any chance he'd want to come back?

quote: It was Kim Andersen that worked with the brothers all the time
When Kim Andersen was hired Frank had already been with Riis for two years. Sure Kim did know both Frank and Andy b/c of their father and Kims base in Lux.
BUT Riis gave Frank a chance with team CSC not Kim Andersen with Team Fakta. |

| What do you think about guys from Milram coming over? Ciolek could develop further into a classics rider and it seems that Gerdemann has not developed as planned after he left years ago. |

I think first of all it is fantastic that we are secured for two more years, and SunGard maybe wants to continue as the only namesponsor, lets give them wath they want the next two years, a lot of fantastic victories and then we are secured for x more years
I really hope the lux team will have succes, I think it is amaizing to see the impact Bjarne has on the cycling world, it would be like a little brother. I wish them luck.
There will probably be some interesting possibilities form Milram and Caisse d'Epargne, as they seem to discontinue. From GCE guys like Gutierrez and LL Sanches (Don't know there status, but if they are available they would be assets to our team). Ciolek could also be a great possibility, so I think the dark clouds are going away
Thor I don't think would fit in with the team spirit, think he's always so pessimistic and negative, can't see him as a team player, he stated that he wouldn't help Sastre during this tour, which is a weird statement to make, in my opinion.

Hushovd is contracted until the end of 2011.
I think it's time to inject fresh blood in the team. O'Grady, Voigt have been great servents but now we need to delevop a new generation of riders. Cooke, Hoj should leave too i think.
The budget will be the same with 2 co-sponsors so it means that we won't have a lot of money, but with the loss of the Schlecks i hope we'll find at least one GC leader (Kreuziger please). |

Yeah Ive been thinking exactly the same. Riders like Terpstra, Wegmann, Ciolek, Gerdemann and Knees could might need that step from Milram to SunGard-?? for the next season!

That would be a perfect signing for us. A leader for Amstel/Liege and then either go for the giro or ride as a super helper in the tour.
Give me Kreuziger and Cunego and im happy
Wegmann is my second choise if we cant get cunego. In my opinion we need somebody for the hilly classics. AS for Gerdemann you can forget about him. Given the way he left the team riis is way to proud/stubborn to take him back.

I mean, Hoj hasn't done much riding this year, so that makes sense. Baden was a solid asset in the classics, though....not sure I'd get rid of him.
And just 'cause it's "time for fresh blood" doesn't mean ditch solid workhorses!! I would hold on dearly to Stuey and Jens as long as possible! they do so much and bring so much for the team!! I mean, on taking the lead, the riders even refer to Stuey as "mini-Riis." I was just curious if anyone had heard anything about their intentions (other than Stuey saying last week pre-sponsor he'd go with the Schlecks).

I wouldn't like to see any Milram rider. The whole team is almost an accumulation of losers. A national jersey is nice, but these races often have their own run.
Gerdemann, Ciolek, Wegmann and some others have been far away from their potential in the last two years.
Luke Roberts made a great turn into the right side this year again.
And: Spanish guys are always very, very special (difficult mentality, doping past, ...) |

Milram has more talent than their lack of wins suggests. There are great riders on the team but it's managed poorly. Riders complain about total abscence of support like training advise and no tactical concept in races.

Kxtr, you hypothesized here: http://forum.team-saxobank.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8579&whichpage=2 Ciolek to Columbia....are you still thinking that, or do you think we have a better chance of signing him?
We already have sprinters in the like of the Haedos and Matti (if he stays), so I'm not sure we need him....but it makes more sense than him going to Columbia to play second wheel to Cavendish.
Is Stijn Devolder still not an option? I still think he'd be an interesting asset to the team...
