Do you seriously believe, that Riis would announce a sponsorship deal via facebook?
Hardly likely! |

Bjarne Riis? No. Lance Armstrong? Definetly yes! I'm almost sure that we'll see our team 1st July in presentation of TdF in new kits |

I'm new here but I've followed Team Saxo Bank from the beginning of Riis' team.
I'm not so confident about the sponsor situation, so I hope you're all right in saying that something will be announced in the beginning of the tour.
By the way, is it a coincidence that the frontpage always has that picture with the riders and Sungard written all over their back?
I remember last season where the top picture changed every time you updated the page.

Welcome to the forum, Wizarden. Interesting observation, I hadn't noticed that thing about the picture on the frontpage. Let's hope that it's some sort of hidden sign that the team is in close negotiation with SunGard and that we'll soon get some confirmation on the team's future.
I noticed a little detail in this short article on the facebook prank: http://sporten.tv2.dk/cykling/article.php/id-31067833:riis-offer-for-fup-p%C3%A5-facebook.html
Trey Greenwood, the CEO of the team, is quoted saying "We will of course choose a far more professional way to communicate the news, when we announce a new main sponsor". I don't know if it means anything, but I interpret it possitively that he says when instead of if.

I think it was on this date (June 10th) that the team announced Saxo Bank as new sponsor 2 years ago.
So it's about time now. Come on Riis! |

I noticed it to and also think it's a positive sign. Hopefully it is a little slip from Trey that reveals that they are close but maybe that's just my own wishfull thinking.

http://politiken.dk/sport/cykling/article993858.ece - Danish article about the sponsor search. You can translate it with Google translate, but basically it is Bjarne telling the journalist how it is going.
He says that there is alot of talk and negotiating with potential sponsors, but the problem is that sponsor-deals of that sice has to be approved from the highest places in the firm, so it takes some time.
His goal is still to announce a new sponsor before the tour, but he says that if the negotiations isn´t done by then, he will simply continue throughout the tour.

I know it is just speculating.. but i find Matti's comment very interesting:
"Besides the World Cup jersey the Danish national jersey is by far the most beautiful of the peloton and it would certainly be an honor wearing it for another year. More importantly, it has to stay with the Team,” says Danish national champion, Matti Breschel"
Maybe Bjarne found a Danish sponsor, then it would be very important to have the Danish National Jersey within the team, no? |

today i read some very interesting news. http://feltet.dk/index.php?id_parent=262&id=276&id_nyhed=26332
The collum is about how Riis now have launch his idea about his "rolling kitchin", which he had to forfit, when IT-factory withdraw.
Now he somehow got the money the launch eventhough we haven't seen any new big sponsers.
So I hope this is sign. And that he has signed a contract with Sungard. |

It would be funny - team named Hugo Boss and Boss not riding in it |

Interesting rumor, but I don't think that Hugo Boss will step into the world of cycling. They prefer some different (more exclusive and expensive) sports (formula one, ...)
The bike sponsor could only be possible by creating a completely new team (non riis-cycling) and I don't believe that our current idols will ever ride De Rosa bikes.
