It just looks to me, like Riis is pretty pissed off by what Andersen is doing. Hopefully it won't divide the team in the Tour. Such a terrible news, let's hope that Andersen won't steal e.g. Cancellara away too.

This is just really bad timing because anyone riis may have been talking to, etc, will not like the loss of 2 big-name riders. They should have waited to make the announcement until another sponsor was found cause now its put their teammates in a horrible position! If anderson has backers for a new team, why not convince them to put their $ in saxo in the first place (you know--an established and successful team)!

I think it's safe to say that the Schleck's are gone and maybe Fuglsang too. As others I now have a big nasty question: who interested in sponsoring team saxobank will still be interested after the GT captain have left.
So I too fear this could be the end of our beloved team
But if they find a new sponsor it might open up for Spartacus to try his luck as a GT captain. Just trying to find a silver lining on a pretty bad day.

ISS states that they will not be the new sponsor of the team.
According to TV2Sport that leaves GN ReSound as the only option for Riis.

Don't bet on it.
I'm afraid its just going to be the usual ''pre-tour'' press conference - usually sponsor deals are announced on the rest days.... BUT OMG I HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT!!!

This is not good news.. I hope he manages to take home a sponsor during the TdF, but oh boy there will be a lot of offers to Saxo Bank riders from other teams the next 3 weeks!!! |

There will bee no lowbudget team it`s all or nothing no doubt about that...
As I se it now it`s bye bye and the support to the boys must be giving to them on there new teams. |

Schlecks leaving, Fuglsang leaving, Spartacus and Breschel probably leaving due to their market value.
Personally I wouldn't mind a team continuiung with Porte, CAS, Larsson, Nicki, Voigt, O'Grady, Cooke, Lund, Haedo's, Klemme, Bellis, Didier(?), Marycz, Rasmussen & Mørkøv, and some danish talents.. There will still be fine results and victories. In a season or two a new big sponsor hopefully emerges.
If only the team was Spanish, Italian or Belgian - or American. Seems to be no sponsor problems in those countries.. |
